Best Way To Removing Wallpaper

1. Score the Wallaper. Begin removing the drywall wallperps that easily pulls off by hand. Then use the scarifying tool to create small holes in the surface of the wallpaper. The tool has three legs, each containing tiny blades. 2. Apply the Solution. Use a spray bottle, sponge, or a roller to apply the solution. Wallpaper paste removers are available at home centers and paint stores. The small holes help soak up the solution, so give it time to work. Do not spray more than you can work with in one hour or so. If you do not scrape and area before it dries, your efforts are wasted. Do go back and spray the same area several time before you start scraping. The more times you spray, the better the liquid penetrates, making it easier for you to remove the wallpaper. 3. Remove the Paper. Carefully scrape off all layers of wallpaper and any backing. Do not use so much force that you mark the wall surface. The paper will be wet, so it is best to have a receptacle at hand to hold the waste. A plastic yard bag works well. Wipe down the walls with clean water to remove the last of the paste.

It is best to remove old wallpaper before painting a wall.

You will be able to strip some papers easily. All you need do is find a seam and begin to peel the paper from the wall. Use warm water to wash off any remaining paste. After this is done, the walls are ready to be primed. If you cannot simply peel off the wall covering, you will have to scraper it off. You can use a scraper to remove the paper, but scrapers often damage the paper of the dryeall underneath the wall covering. This damage must be repaired before painting. A better option is to use a scarifying toll like the one shown below. As you pull the tool along, tiny blades cut through the wall paper. Sponge or spray the wall with a wall-paper remover or plain water. Give the solution time to soak into the paper; then scrape. Finsh up by washing the walls down with plain water. Wallpaper steamers, available at most tool rental houses, can also remove wallpaper, but they do not speed up the job. Steamers are heavy and difficult to work with, and rental fees are often expensive.

Stripping Wallpaper

Apply the wallpaper-removal solution. You can use a roller or you can spray the solution on the wall. The important thing is to give the solution time to work its way under the wallpaper.
